PRACTICAL EXCEL TIPS

  1. Go to the View tab.
  2. Click the Freeze Panes button.
  3. Select the Freeze Top Row option.
The first row will now remain fixed no matter how far you scroll down your list.

  1. Select the cell.
  2. Go to the Data tab and click Data Validation.
  3. Select List under "Allow".
  4. Enter your options separated by a semicolon (;) in the "Source" field (e.g., Yes;No).

  2. Click the Remove Duplicates button in the Data tab.
  3. Select which columns must contain matching data to be deleted and confirm.

  1. Select the column.
  2. Follow the path Data > Text to Columns.
  3. Choose "Delimited" > Next > Select Space as the delimiter > Finish.
ERRORS AND SOLUTIONS

This is not an error. It means the cell's column width is insufficient to display the number or date within it. Double-click the edge of the column header to auto-fit the width.

  • The value you are looking for is not in the leftmost column of the table.
  • There are hidden spaces in the data (e.g., "Ali " is different from "Ali").
  • One value is in number format, and the other is in text format.

The cell format has remained "Text". Right-click the cell and select Format Cells > General. Then enter the cell (F2) and press Enter. Also, the "Show Formulas" mode (Shortcut: Ctrl + ~) might be active.

You get this error when trying to use text in a mathematical operation. For example, the operation "Pen" + 10 will give this error. Ensure that the cells in the formula contain numbers.

Yes, 90% of the formulas are compatible. Basic functions like IF, VLOOKUP, SUM work the same way on both platforms.

This depends on your computer's Regional settings:
  • Turkey (TR): The formula separator is the semicolon (;).
  • US/UK (EN): The formula separator is the comma (,).
You can tell by looking at Excel's tooltip box while writing the formula.

  • Delete unused empty rows and columns.
  • Paste formulas as values (convert to static data).
  • Save the file in .xlsb (Binary Workbook) format, it runs much faster.
